Pride and Prejudice

I tend to turn to Pride and Prejudice fanfiction when I’m looking for a good romance, so that’s what most of these are.

Missing Scenes and Continuations

Meeting Mr. Bennet by SaphfireFlameEveryone is very surprised to find that Mr. Bennet has gone to visit Mr. Bingley, including the reader, since we’re never shown that first interaction between the Bennets and the Netherfield party. Here’s my take on what might have happened.  A delightful little story showing Darcy and Bingley’s very first encounter with one of the Bennet family.

As Only a Husband and Wife Ought by LucyIn which we explore the growing intimacy between Darcy and Elizabeth in and around the time of their wedding.  This is a very sweet story, but be aware that the topic of intimacy in married life is addressed.

Summer at Pemberly by LucyIt is the first summer at Pemberley since Darcy and Elizabeth wed and they will play host to some expected and some unexpected guests.  I really enjoyed this story, and felt that it captured Darcy and Elizabeth settling into their new life together very well.  It also had a good mix of familiar and original characters who each added a great deal to the story.  Please be aware that while this story contains no explicit content, it is a very intimate look at married life.

Regency Era Alternate Universe Fanfiction

Fair Stands the Wind by Maisedoat.  I love this story to pieces.  I think I’ve read it half a dozen times.  It’s the sort of alternate universe I really love, because Elizabeth and Darcy start out in different circumstances from the book, and as the story progresses the author not only tells a lovely romance, but also gradually reveals the backstory that led to the differences.  It has wonderful characterization, and Darcy as a Navy Captain, and I absolutely recommend it.

Overhearings More to The Purpose by Sharni.  Instead of overhearing Darcy’s comment that she wasn’t handsome enough to tempt him, Elizabeth instead hears his praise of her fine eyes.  This story is a fascinating exploration of how Darcy and Elizabeth’s relationship might have been different without an initial animosity to overcome.
